The life ring is a recurring accessory in the DQSeries that first appeared in DQ3. It gradually restores HP as the wearer walks around, similar to the Auroral Armour from III and the Circle of Life in V. ==Localization history== The Japanese name ใใฎใกใฎใใณใ (ring of life) was first localized in English as the recovery ring in 2005 for the international release of Dragon Quest VIII. It was retained for the 2008 localization of Dragon Quest IV but was replaced with the life ring term in the 2010 localization of Dragon Quest IX, and then reinstated in 2014 with the Android/iOS localization of Dragon Quest III. Beginning with the 2016 localization of Dragon Quest VII the recovery name has been retired outside of reuse in iterations of Dragon Quest III. ==Appearances== ===DQ7=== The Life ring has a Defence bonus of +5, a Style bonus of +8, and restores the wearer's HP while walking. It can be equipped by all characters. One can be found in the Cathedral of Blight and another can be found at the Bazaar evolution of Immigrant Town in the Sony PlayStation version of the game. They can also be dropped rarely by Gem slimes and Merderers. *In the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, the second Life ring can be found at the penultimate evolution of The Haven after the events at Buccanham. ===DQ9=== ===DQ11=== The recipe book Circles of Life contains the recipe for the life ring. Once it has been fully upgraded, it will also provide a +9 bonus to the wearer's max HP. The recovery ring can be obtained by exchanging 10 Mini medals once or dropped by Frostburns. ==See also== *Circle of Life ==Gallery==
<gallery> DQVII Life ring.png|The Life ring in VII. </gallery>
==Reference== <references/> fr:Anneau de vie (Dragon Quest III)
