In the PSX original, Lifeboat could only be learned as a hybrid skill of mastering the [[Sailor]] and [[Priest]] vocations. In the 3DS remake, it is learned automatically by reaching rank 3 of the [[Pirate]] vocation.

In either case, Lifeboat nullifies all damage done to the party for 10MP, making it more expensive (and stylistic) than [[Kaclang]]. For frugal players, using the [[Rainbow Drop]] to replicate the effect is the more sensible option than the skill itself. Lifeboat has the highest priority of any skill or spell in the game meaning it will '''always''' activate first during a turn, even before [[Double Up]] and [[Mercurial Thrust]].
