The Lips is a beginner monster vocation in Dragon Quest VII. ==Description== The Lips is a green slug monster with arms, large eyes, and is known for its oversized pair of lips. It gives a slight boost in Agility, but also has decreases that range from moderate to severe in all other categories. As a Lips, a character will learn various debilitating skills commonly used by the monsters. Mastering the vocation is required in order to become a Seasaur or a Delusionist. ==Resistances== In the original Sony PlayStation version, a character that has become a Lips has a high resistance to instant death, sleep, dazzle, confusion, Fizzle, poison, and paralysis, as well as a slight resistance to Zap-type spells from ranks 1 to 7. At rank 8, they will have a higher resistance to Zap-type spells. *In the Nintendo 3DS version, a character that has become a Lips is very susceptible to being stunned and is more susceptible to confusion and paralysis. They have a slight weakness to sleep, poison, Fizzle, Sap, and instant death spells. However, they will have a slight resistance to dazzle and Zap-type spells. Once again, they will have a higher resistance to Zap-type spells upon reaching rank 8. ==Monster Heart== To become a Lips, a character must have a heart in their inventory and go to Alltrades Abbey 7 to change their vocation. One Lips heart can found in a treasure chest at the Pillar of Sulkk in the present, while another can be found in the Mountaintop Tunnel in the present. The monsters have a 1 chance of dropping their heart, dropping down to 1 from the second onward. *In the Nintendo 3DS version, it is also possible to acquire a Lips heart by creating a custom Traveller's Tablet with a Lips as the boss. ===Stat Changes=== {|width="50%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="1" style="text-align:center" |width="25%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Statistics |width="25%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Change |- |Battles to Master |132 |- |Strength | -20% |- |Agility | +5% |- |Resilience | -10% |- |Wisdom | -20% |- |Style | -30% |- |Max HP | -20% |- |Max MP | Null |} ===Abilities=== {|width="90%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" border="1" style="text-align:center" |width="5%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Level |width="20%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Title
(PSX) |width="10%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Learns |width="5%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Battles Needed |width="15%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Target |width="50%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|Info |width="5%" valign="top" style="background:#4682B4"|MP |- |1 |Dry Lips
(Chapped) |Nothing |0 | | | |- |2 |Moist Lips
(Moist) |Tongue Lashing |13 |One Enemy |Licks an enemy to cause shuddering, which may prevent an enemy from attacking |0 |- |3 |Wet Lips
(Pouty) |Nothing |30 | | | |- |4 |Glistening Lips
(Wet) |Tongue Bashing |41 |One Enemy |Licks one enemy, lowering its defense to zero |0 |- |5 |Pursed Lips
(Sweet) |Nothing |63 | | | |- |6 |Full Lips
(Jiggly) |Sweet Breath |88 |One Group |Has a chance of putting one group of enemies to sleep |0 |- |7 |Shimmering Lips
(Sultry) |Nothing |115 | | | |- |8 |Luscious Lips
(Sexy) |Weird Dance |132 |One Enemy |Reduces the MP of a single enemy |0 |} DQVIIClasses
