Editing List of shields in Dragon Quest XI

The following is a list of the [[Shield|shields]] that are available in {{DQ11}}. Shields cannot be used when a character is equipped with a pair of [[Claw (weapon type)|claws]], a [[Greatsword (weapon type)|greatsword]], a [[Heavy Wand (weapon type)|heavy wand]], a [[Spear (weapon type)|spear]], or a [[Whip (weapon type)|whip]] due to these weapons requiring both hands to properly wield. As such, {{Veronica 11}}, [[Jade]], and [[Rab]] cannot equip shields at all, with [[Erik]] not using them to better suit his fighting style.

All shields have an innate chance to block an oncoming attack, cancelling any damage that character would have taken otherwise. This chance is usually low, only rising above 10% for the best shields during the final act of the game, due to the effect stacking with a character's evasion rate.
