The '''Minstrel''' (旅芸人, ''Tabigeinin'') is a vocation added to the series in ''[[Dragon Quest IX]]'', and the initial vocation of [[Hero (Dragon Quest IX)|its hero]]. It has limited healing and offensive spells on top of the ability to wield [[Fan]]s, [[Sword]]s, [[Whip]]s, and [[Shield]]s. Their [[Coup-de-Grace]] is "Rough N' Tumble," which increases evasion and counterattack chances.

==Description==
Minstrels serve as a jack-of-all-trades class that can handle physical damage, spellcasting, healing, and distraction, allowing early players to test out various aspects of battle. However, Minstrels do not excel in any particular area, and might switch into more focused vocations, such as a [[Gladiator]] or [[Armamentalist]], later on, depending on what the player wants. Despite this, Minstrels are still a respectable class, and can be kept as a multitasker in the party. Many of their features are from the [[Troubadour]], [[Dancer]], and [[Jester]] classes.
