The '''night light''' is an item in the [[Dragon Quest (series)|''Dragon Quest'']] series. It pours out a pool of endless blackness to shift [[Day-night cycle|day to night]] upon use out on the world map and doesn't work in towns or dungeons.

The lamp is found in the shop in [[Theddon]] and can be obtained during the day.  In the [[Nintendo Entertainment System|NES]] version it can't be sold, while in the GBC Version, it will sell for 225 [[gold]] coins.

Found in [[Dragon Quest IV Chapter 4|Chapter 4]] by [[Meena]] and [[Maya]] in the depths of [[Gupta Gupha]], where it was created by their father [[Mahabala]]. It remains in their possession when they join up with the hero at the start of [[Dragon Quest IV Chapter 5|Chapter 5]].

Found in the [[Whealbrook Adit]] after revisiting during the second generation.

Won from first completion of the [[DLC Tablet]] "Den of the Wintry Wyrm" after defeating the [[Blue dragon]] in the [[Nintendo 3DS]] version only.  As the game lacks the day/night cycle, the function of the night light is to replicate the rarely-seen [[Snub]] spell to nullify all magic for the rest of the battle for both the party and enemies.
