Not-colossal fossil is used as a material for crafting weapons and armour or in lamp alchemy to add an effect to equipment that will give the wearer a chance to a cast a spell or use a skill without consuming MP. It can be purchased from a material shop for 150 gold each, picked up from sparkly spots, or dropped by certain monsters such as [[Mad mole]]s.
