The ocean is incredibly important to the story of {{DQ7}}. At the beginning of the game, the {{Hero 7}} and his friends and family live on the island of [[Estard]], surrounded by nothing but bodies of water. But after a fateful visit to the [[Shrine of Mysteries]], which leads them to [[Ballymolloy]], other islands begin to appear in the present. [[Kiefer]] and the Hero have been working on an old fishing [[Ship|boat]] to make it seaworthy and it eventually allows them to travel to other lands. And after a change in the world, the party eventually gains access to the mighty [[Sea Dragon (sailing vessel)|Sea Dragon]], as well.

Additionally, the ocean plus the [[Multipleximus Maximus]] and a similar area to the latter in the [[Cathedral of Blight]] are the only areas that still consist of random monster [[encounter]]s. in the [[Nintendo 3DS]] Version.
