The pirate's hat has a defence bonus of +19 and a style bonus of +21. It can be worn by the [[Hero (Dragon Quest VII)|Hero]], [[Ruff]], and [[Sir Mervyn]]. It can be purchased in [[Allblades Arena]], [[El Ciclo]], [[Spilton-on-Sea]], [[Wetlock]], [[Buccanham]], and the [[Sea Dragon (sailing vessel)|Sea Dragon]] for 2,800 gold and sold for 1,400.

The pirate's hat has a maximum HP bonus of +10, a defence bonus of +38, an agility bonus of +28, a charm bonus of +40, and it halves the chances of being paralyzed. It can be worn by the [[Hero (Dragon Quest VII)|Hero]], [[Ruff]], and [[Sir Mervyn]]. It can be purchased in the [[Sea Dragon (sailing vessel)|Sea Dragon]] or obtained as a prize in Lucky Panel in the present. It's purchase price is 4200 gold coins and it's sale price is 2100 coins.

The pirate's hat has a defence rating of +30. It can only be worn by the [[Hero (Dragon Quest VIII)|Hero]] or sold for 1,400 gold.  It is obtained as a dropped item by [[Captain Crow]] (100%), or [[heavy hood]]s at a 1/256 rate.
*In the 3DS version, the Pirate's hat now has a defence bonus of +36 and can also be equipped by both [[Morrie]] and [[Red]]. Red's appearance changes if she wears the pirate's hat with the [[cap'n's clothes]].

The Pirate's hat can be obtained by completing the quest 27, "The Viking Hoard", which is initiated by speaking to the man in the second floor of the [[Sniflheim]] item shop.
