This armor may be won in either the [[Port Haven]] or [[Turnscote]] casinos, and can be found in Howcastle behind a door that requires the [[Ultimate Key]]. It provides +66 defense, +51 style, and negates 15 points of magical damage from all non-Zap spells. It can be worn by the [[Hero (Dragon Quest VI)|Hero]], [[Terry]], [[Carver]], [[Lizzie]], [[Amos]], and [[Goowain]].
*The [[Dragon shield]] is also available in the aforementioned casinos, and can be equipped along with the platinum mail by most characters. This makes the battle with [[Murdaw]] significantly easier and is a popular strategy for low-level playthroughs.
