The Red Orb is a key item in DQ3 and a recurring item in the series as a whole, being an artifact of incredible power in every appearance. ==Appearances== ===DQ3=== It is one of the Six Orbs required to hatch Ramia, and is located in a hidden basement outside the Pirates' Den. ===DQ3HD}=== ===DQ8=== The Red Orb is an important item that must be found at Marta's Cottage near Orkutsk before the final battle with Rhapthorne. ===DQ9=== :A ridiculously rare orb of richest red. Alchemise it! - Dragon Quest IX game description The Red Orb reappears in Dragon Quest IX as a very exotic alchemy ingredient, used for some of the highest alchemy recipes. It is a rare drop from the Dragonlord, Malroth, and (at lowest levels) Nokturnus Legacy Bosses. ===DQ11=== The Red Orb started out as a royal treasure of Heliodor before it was stolen by Erik about one year prior to the main events of the game. Before the Luminary and Erik return to Cobblestone, they visit Downtown Heliodor to take the Orb back from where it had been stashed. When the Orb is absent from the stash, they must track down Erik's former partner in crime, Derk, who tells them that it has been taken to the Kingsbarrow. A pair of MFamiliess attempt to make off with it in order to gain favor with the Lord of Shadows, but they are defeated by Erik and the Luminary and they take the Orb back. Note that this is technically one of Erik's possessions at this point, and does not appear in the Important Items inventory. Later on, when the Luminary and his Party 11 discover that it is one of the Six Orbs needed to reach Yggdrasil, Erik gives the Red Orb to the Hero 11. start During Act 2, the Red Orb is in the possession of the Spectral Sentinel Alizarin, who uses it to surround himself with an impenetrable barrier before it was dispelled by the powers of the Luminary. Even during the boss battle, Alizarin also uses the Orb to increase the damage the main characters take by generating a crimson mist around the Party 11. When Alizarin falls, the Luminary regains the Red Orb. Not long after this, Erik also reveals his complex reasons for having stolen the Orb in the first place. end ==Gallery==
<gallery> Red orb artwork DQIII SFC.jpg|Dragon Quest III, 2001 DQ VIII Android Red Orb In Marta's Cottage.jpg|Orb located in Marta's Cottage from VIII.
