'''Rimland''' is an island continent in the [[Overworld (Dragon Quest III)|overworld]] of {{Dragon Quest III}}.

Rimland is located south of [[Theddon]] and southeast of [[Lanson]], and is meant to represent Antarctica in the real world, although it is not of a relative size.

The shrine of Rimland is the nest of the egg of [[Ramia]], guarded by [[Rimland priestesses|twin priestesses]] who speak in unison and beseech the {{Hero 3}} to gather the [[Six Orbs]] to hatch the Everbird. The twins will also keep track of the number of orbs that have been gathered, but are unable give hints as to their locations.

Rimland is first alluded to by the prisoner in [[Theddon]], who tells the {{Hero 3}} to gather the orbs and travel to the southernmost continent. 

====Remake changes====
In the {{GBC}} version, the spot that was occupied by [[Ramia]] will become a portal to the [[Ice Cave]], a second [[bonus dungeon]].  The entrance will become available after making a wish to [[Xenlon]].

Rimland remains mostly unchanged in the HD-2D version, though the shrine is now shown to be surrounded with monsters that have been frozen solid. Whether they have naturally succumbed to the sub-zero temperatures or if this is a product of holy protection for Ramia's nest is left to the player's imagination.

The prisoner of Theddon now specifically mentions Rimland by name when handing the [[green orb]] to the Hero.

The shrine appears as a smaller structure resembling mushroom in the game, but otherwise serves the same purpose as in its original appearance. The twin maidens have been illustrated for the first time, wearing golden tiaras that curve upwards into twin prongs, golden gowns, and blue necklaces made of large spheres.

==Etymology==
*The Japanese name, ''Reiamurando'', is derived from [[wikipedia:Graham Land|Graham Land]], the British name for the largest peninsula on the Antarctic continent.
:*The localization name of ''Leiamland'' and it's predecessor are the result of the translation team not picking up on the geographic reference through the Japanese script's use of a homophone (--raham and reiam-- are pronounced the same), and as such [[wikipedia:Perception of English /r/ and /l/ by Japanese speakers|assumed the first letter should have been an L instead of an R]]. 

==Trivia==
*Rimland was never actually mentioned by name in the Android/iOS script, with fans only discovering the difference by looking at the files of the [[Cell phone]] version. Casting [[Storeyteller]] will reveal nothing when used in the shrine.
**Potentially as a result, the quest bearing its name in {{Tact}}'s "True Dragon Quest III" event is still referred to as "Liamland".
*Twins girls speaking in harmony and protecting a massive egg is an allusion to the Shobijin characters of the 1961 tokusatsu film ''[[wikipedia:Mothra (film)|Mothra]]'', with [[Ramia]]'s egg even bearing the same markings as the eponymous insect. [[Yuji Horii]] would also mention Mothra when spoken to in the developer's room ending of ''Chrono Trigger''.
