The Salamarauder is a recurring monster in the DQSeries, first appearing in Dragon Quest IX. It is a stronger, pale variant of the Wooper trooper that has taken up piracy. ==Characteristics== Like wooper troopers, salamarauders are small amphibian warriors based off the axolotl, their paler complexion making them more reminiscent of the real-life animal. They wear simple blue tabards and horned helmets on their heads. The salamarauders can dodge attacks and redirect them in much the same way as their blue brethren, and can also breathe out cool breath and block attacks with their shield. ==Appearances== ===DQ9=== *Salamarauders are part of the objective in Quest #062: Brian's Dyin' Wish, where they must be defeated until one of them drops a treasure chest containing the Larrrst Letter. ===DQ10=== Reappearing from 7.1 onwards, they are encountered in the Hadin Underground Cave, as well as Kyuron Hills in 7.4. In addition to using Wooper Tackle and Gale Slash, their Cool Breath is upgraded to Freezing Blizzard. ===DQRivals=== Salamarauder appeared in the 10th card pack, "Frontier of Creation and Destruction" as a rare card exclusive for Thief leaders. ===DQTact=== Salamarauder appears as an A-rank monster of the Nature family during the second part of the limited "Scintillating Summer Hols! Swimwear, Waves, and Watermelons!" event. It will join the party in Chapter 2, Episode 1 of the event quests and it can be fully awakened by completing the quest at any difficulty. ==Trivia== *The salamarauder, along with the rest of its wooper variants, are based on the axolotl, an endangered species of salamander from Mexico. The name wooper itself references the term "wooper looper" (ウーパールーパー, Ūpārūpā), a term introduced by the Nissin Foods company to refer to their axolotl mascot, which appeared in a 1985 commercial. ==In Other Languages== ==Gallery==
<gallery> DQR Kaizoku Wooper.png|Rivals card DQT Kaizoku Wooper.jpg|Salamarauder in Tact </gallery>
==Related Monsters== *Wooper trooper *Axolhotl       fr:Amphigien
