The '''shield of shame''' is a powerful {{Cursed}} shield that has appeared in the third an seventh games. It halves any physical damage the bearer takes, but also passes the pain on to a [[party]] member selected at random.

The shield of shame is found in the northwest corner of the fifth floor of the [[bonus dungeon]], the {{Cloudsgate Citadel 3}} in the remakes.

Otherwise, it is dropped by [[infanticore]]s at 1/256, [[manticore]]s and [[franticore]]s at 1/128, and by the [[Soul of Baramos]] at 1/256. It can be sold for 7 {{Gold}}.

The shield of shame increases {{Defence}} by +43, and lowers {{Style}} by 5. It cuts physical damage by half and a random {{Party 7}} member will take the same damage as well, but it now increases the damage the wearer has taken from [[Frizz]], [[Sizz]], [[Crack]], [[Bang]], [[Woosh]], and fire/ice breath by 40 points. It is found in the [[Cathedral of Blight]], and is dropped by [[Togre]]s at a rate of 1/64. It can be sold for 90 {{Gold}}.
