The '''skull helm''' is a recurring piece of headwear in the {{DQSeries}}. Although this monstrous skullcap imparts a deadly curse on its wearer, it can be purified with the use of [[Alchemy]].

The skull helm has a defence bonus of +49, but it is [[cursed]] and reduces the wearer's attack to 0. It can only be worn by [[Yangus]], as well as [[Morrie]] in the 3DS version. There are only two in the entire game: one in a treasure chest on [[Isolated Plateau]] which is accessible with the [[Godbird's soulstone]] and one in the [[Heavenly Dais]]. Although it can be sold for 4,500 gold, it is not recommended due to its scarcity and the fact that it can be purified into a [[Sun crown]] using [[alchemy]].

Although it is not ideal to equip the skull helm doing normal gameplay, it can be useful for item farming: if Yangus has the skill [[Steal Sickle]] (or [[Stainless Steal Sickle|the upgraded version]]) and equips the skull helm, the player can use the skill on a desired enemy repeatedly until they obtain they item they want without the risk of killing the target.
