It made its debut in the games in ''[[Dragon Quest Monsters 2]]'', and then in main series with ''[[Dragon Quest XI]]'' as the Wind-elemental equivalent of [[Gigaslash]], cutting through one group of foes with a vacuum blade.

The {{Hero 11}} learns Skysplitter after speaking to the elder of [[Havens Above]] in the game's third act. It costs 16 MP to perform and will deal up to 210~250 damage. If the player has completed quest #60 then the MP cost will double, the base damage will be set to 200~240, and the limit will be raised to 400~440. The [[Sword of Light]] or one of its upgrades must be equipped in order to execute the technique.
