The '''Smogbonnet''', also known as the '''Doom slugger''', is a recurring monster in the {{DQSeries}}, first appearing in ''[[Dragon Quest V]]''. It is a strange, alien-like monster that forms a duo with the [[Sootbonce]].

==Characteristics==
Smogbonnets are small, dark-grey skinned bipedal [[Demon family|demon]]s with outlandish appearances, their most notable feature being the large, elongated blue-grey forehead that gives the monster its name. They have a singular blue eye in the center of their faces and two eyes on antennae-like stalks protruding from their shoulders. The monsters have elated expressions that reveal a set of sharp fangs and they have two sharp claws on each of their limbs. The freakish monsters produce deadly poisons in their bodies, which they are able to unleash by exhaling a noxious mist or in dangerous slashing attacks from their claws. They also later gained the ability to exhale a sweet-smelling breath that can put adventurers to sleep. Smogbonnets almost always appear alongside the sootbonce, which has the opposite coloration as them.
