'''Thwack''' is an instant-death spell in the {{DQSeries}} that targets a whole group of enemies, stopping the heart (or nearest approximate).

Typically, characters that take up the paths of [[Priest]]s and [[Sage]]s are the only humans that learn the [[Whack]] line, giving the impression of the spell family being a case of "forbidden" magic reserved only for the most pious and disciplined.

Thwack is learned by the [[Prince of Cannock]] at level 23, and costs 4 {{MP}} to cast. 

Infamously, [[frostburn]]s and [[Wrecktor (Recurring)|wrecktor]]s will cast it ceaselessly in the {{NES}} version.

[[Priest]]s and [[Sage]]s will learn Thwack at level 28, now costs 7 {{MP}} to cast remaining so until {{IX}}.

The enemies [[imp]], [[soaring scourger]], [[pandora's box]], and [[silhouette]] can use this spell against the {{Party 3}}, although imps don't have the required {{MP}} to cast it.

Thwack is learned by Priests and Sages at level 26 if their wisdom exceeds 86 points. It costs 10 MP and has a 50% chance to instantly kill a group of enemies before resistances are applied.

The enemies [[imp]], [[terracotta warrior]], [[blizzybody]], and [[bone baron]] can use this spell against the {{Party 4}}, but imps will fail every time due to lack of {{MP}}.

Thwack is a spell the {{Hero Smash}} can randomly choose from his Command Selection ability. It costs an immense 30 {{MP}} to cast and will only deal 3% upon failure, but creates a large explosion with a chance to instantly KO an opponent. The chance to KO increases with the opponents damage and is slightly boosted if the Hero is also damaged.
