The Viking soul is a recurring monster in the DQSeries, first appearing in Dragon Quest X. It is the heavily armed skeleton of a Viking warrior that continues to fight in undeath. ==Characteristics== Viking souls are red skeletons distinguished from the average skeleton by the broadswords they wield and the horned Viking-styled helmets they wear on their skulls. They wear dark indigo tunics with gold lining and a metal gorget around their clavicles, brown trousers, grey gloves and boots, and a metallic belt around their waists with a purple gemstone as a buckle. According to their monster description in X, the Viking souls are revenants of ferocious pirates known for pillaging and plundering. Due to their misdeeds, they were despised by the god of the sea and forbidden to enter the sea again, continuing their rampage only on land. In battle, they can strengthen their allies with Oomph and can land deadly curses with their swords. ==Appearances== ===DQ10=== Viking souls appeared from the beginning of the game. They are able to cast Oomph on their allies, can toss their skulls, and can place curses on characters. ===DQTact=== Viking soul appears as an A-rank monster of the Undead family during Part 4 of the main storyline. A pair are faced as bosses in Chapter 8, Episode 7: Tracking the Grimoire 1 and it can be scouted from the same level. When the chapters were first added to the game, there were special limited-time missions that would allow players to collect up to 10 Viking Soul Crystals for awakening. The Viking soul can participate in the Mindini hunter's Battle Road as a party member. ==Gallery==
<gallery> DQX Viking soul.jpg|A viking soul in X DQR Viking Soul.png|Rivals card DQT Viking soul event.jpg|The Viking soul in Tact </gallery>
