Weird Dance is a recurring ability in the DQSeries that first appeared in Dragon Quest II as an enemy-exclusive ability before later being able to be used by the player in Dragon Quest V. It reduces the MP of the target, and is related to the skills Weirder Dance and Weirdest Dance which are stronger versions of this skill in the mainline games. It is important to note that Weird Dance does not drain the target's MP into the user, it simply deletes it. The Tap Dance technique is what siphons MP into the dancer. ==Appearances== ===DQ2=== Weird Dance is used by Eyelasher, Heyedra, Mud mannequin, Magic marionette, and Treevil. It reduces approximately 1th of a character's MP in the NES version, and only 3~8 MP in all subsequent versions. ===DQ3=== Weird Dance drains 5~10 MP and is used by monsters such as the Catula. ===DQ4=== Weird Dance removes 7~11 MP and is used by Lugworm, Peeper, Damselfly, and Sasquash. It is a random skill that Torneko Taloon will sometimes use in , and also by Tom Foolery, and their versions remove 15~20 MP. ===DQ5=== Weird Dance is learned by several monster companions such as the Goodybag R. MP reduced is 1~2, being the weakest of its skill group. This set the standard for all MFamilies versions of the skill. Hula ghoul uses it as an enemy. ===DQ6=== Weird Dance is learned by advancing to either rank 3 of the Dancer Vocation or rank 4 of the Merchant vocation. In this installment the skill received the same upgrade as Drain Magic, meaning that the MP deleted is the user's level/4 +5. It is used by the MFamiliess Sluggernaut, Mud mannequin, Magic marionette, Mad mallard, and Crayzee. The monster version is much weaker than the player's, only removing 1~2 MP. ===DQ7=== Weird Dance is learned at Rank 3 of the Dancer vocation in the PS1 and versions of the game. In the original it uses the level-based calculations as in VI, but in the remake it merely removes 5~12 MP regardless of level. It can be used by the MFamiliess Mimic, Mud mannequin, Bag o' laughs, Prancing pillar, Cavorting column, Elepus, and Scarfish. ===DQ8=== Weird Dance removes 1~2 MP and is used by Treefaces and Mud mannequins. Mudison is the only recruitable monster capable of using the skill. ===DQ9=== Weird Dance can be used by Bags o' laughs and Ragged reapers, deleting 1~2 MP from a single character. *The Hero 9 can learn a Party trick version by talking to a ghost in The Bowhole. ===DQ10=== Section-Stub ===DQ11=== Weird Dance appears once again as an enemy-only skill that can be used by Mud mannequins, Magic marionettes, Gold-plated puppets, Caped caperers, and Goodybags. It also now works similarly to Drain Magic, restoring the user's MP by the amount depleted. ===DQM=== Known as OddDance in this game, this ability can be learned by various MFamiliess. It requires the MFamilies to be at least Level 10, with at least 54 HP, 27 MP, 63 Agility, and 49 Intelligence. It grows into RobDance when the MFamilies reaches at least level 12 with at least 68 HP, 39 MP, 85 Agility and 61 Intelligence. Is is naturally learned by the CactiBall, CatFly, Copycat, FaceTree, GiantWorm, MadGoose and MudDoll. ===DQM2=== OddDance now requires 89 Intelligence to learn and 110 to upgrade to RobDance. It is naturally learned by the Brushead, Eggplaton, Octoreach, Puppetor, Slurperon and Starfish. It is no longer naturally learned by the MadGoose. ===DQMJ=== Weird Dance can be learned from: *All-Rounder (5 points) *Dancer (12 points) *Green Finger (64 points) *Trickster (20 points) ===DQMJ2=== Weird Dance can be learned from all the skills it could be previously, though All-Rounder now requires 12 points, and Green Finger now requires 54 points. ===DQM3D=== Stub ===DQM23D=== Stub ===DQMJ3=== Stub ===DQM3=== Weird Dance removes the target's MP by User's level + 0~3, with a limit of 100 MP per use. It is learned through the Choreographer, Dancer, Enigma, Mouth Guard, and Splash Afficionado talents. ===DQH=== Enemy Bag o' laughs are capable of using Weird Dance in battle. When used, they will project a magical field surrounding them that will drain the MP of any character that happens to be caught within. ===DQH2=== Stub ==Gallery== <center><gallery> Dai1991 Treefaces.jpg|Treefaces performing Weird Dance in the 1991 anime of The Adventure of Dai. </gallery></center> ==Related abilities== *Weirder Dance *Weirdest Dance *Sappy Song clear DQSkills
