Poppet (プクリポ, Pukuripo?, lit. Puklipo) is one of the races in Dragon Quest X . They are tiny, furry humanoid creatures. After starting out as a human, the player may choose to become a Poppet, or any of the other races, including Elf, Dwarf, Ogre, or Wetling.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Poppets are distinguished by their furry bodies, fluffy tails, and brightly-coloured coats. Their ears are located on top of their heads, like certain mammals, and blend into their hair. They are informal almost to the point of exaggeration; a conversation with a Poppet tends to devolve into jokes, as any self-respecting Poppet is constantly seeking comedic material at any time. Most Poppets are impulsive and it takes a lot to change the mind of one who is determined.
Culture[edit | edit source]
Comedy and merrymaking are incredibly important for this diminutive race. Becoming a comedian is a popular vocation of choice for Poppets, and many achieve fame in comedy shows or circuses around their cities. Another fundamental characteristic of Poppets is bringing joy to others and to that end, they often look for ways of achieving that. Poppets enjoy artistic expression, particularly aesthetics, and it is quite common to see them running beauty salons. Poppet cities are usually decorated with vibrant and unique architecture, bright colours, and some are even themed after food.
While their aesthetic is unique and their personalities and gestures are lively, Poppets also possess sharp intellects. Many wizards and scientists hail from all corners of the Poppet homeland, with extravagant, yet incredibly useful inventions, potions, and spells, all born from the mind of a motivated Poppet.
