The Scare root is a recurrent monster in the Dragon Quest series that was introduced in Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation.
In the Japanese version of Dragon Quest Monsters, the enemy HerbMan shares the same name as them (マンドラゴラ Mandoragora), but they otherwise appear to be unrelated.

Scare roots are plant-like monsters, specifically the taproots of carrots. Their bodies are brown except the budding stalk that contains the eye, which is fuchsia.
