0 Zone is an ability that started as a Coup de Grâce, which voids the MP cost of nearly every spell and skill the prestidigitator can use for a brief period.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]

0 Zone will last for 5 turns but will not work with M-Pathy, likely to avoid any programming bugs due to there now being no drained MP to pass in the first place.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

0 Zone now lasts for 60 seconds due to X being a real-time game instead of a turn-based one. Additionally, the power of offensive spells are doubled for 120 seconds and the casting time for all spells is cut in half for 120 seconds. Both of these traits persist after the MP-voiding effects of 0 Zone expire.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

0 Zone is a Pep power that can be selected when the Hero and Rab are in the party. The player may now select the character to benefit from free spells, and the effect lasts for 5 turns. Kerplunk, Magic Burst, and Mighty Magic Burst still consume MP.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

  • 0 Zone is a pun on ozone a molecular effect where an oxygen molecule has three atoms instead of two. The phenomena is most well-known for existing in a figurative layer within the Earth's stratosphere where it shields the planet against ultraviolet radiation, and for having a peculiar electric odor.
