The Perilwinkle is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VII. It is a sea snail monster protected by a tough, pitch-black shell.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Hard-shelled molluscs with blood-red bodies that smash into enemies by rolling repeatedly to build up enough momentum. They practice this in dark, dank dungeons, giving them extra skill with where they strike. They've been known to fling themselves with such a forceful Body Slam that it even cracks their own shell. Their sturdy shells grant them incredible protection against offensive magic and they have a tendency to hide themselves away in it to defend themselves, as well.
