Sleep Attack is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series. It launches a melee attack that may knock the target Sleep.

Monsters first gained the ability to put characters to sleep with normal attacks in Dragon Quest II, eventually becoming its own skill that can be used by monster companions in V. The effect can be duplicated with weapons like the Dream blade.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line[edit | edit source]

Sleep Attack can be used by Man o' wars, Merluscs, Mummies, and Malroth* himself.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit | edit source]

Sleep Attack can be used exclusively by the Morphean mushroom.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]

Sleep Attack can be used by Bantamweights, Bodkin bowyers, Fat bats, Vampire battlers, and Master Kung.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit | edit source]

Sleep Attack is learned by the Funghoul at level 5. It does not cost MP to use.

Sleep Attack can be used by Decayurions, Lesionnaires, Mousenaps, and Bagley.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit | edit source]

Sleep Attack can be used by Bodkin bowyers, Dark skeletons, Dead Bowdy, Hell gladiators, Morphean mushrooms, Mummies, and Terror tabbies.

The Infamous Monsters who can use it are Archer, Mushy, and Skeledoid.

Called NapAttack in this game, it requires the monster to reach level 7 with 49 max HP, 42 ATK and 42 INT. It is naturally learned by the ArmyAnt, Gulpple, Lipsy, SpotKing, Toadstool and Tonguella.

NapAttack now requires 76 Intelligence to learn. It is naturally learned by the Gamanian. It is no longer naturally learned by the Lipsy.
