The '''Moai minstrel''' is a recurring monster in the {{DQSeries}}, first appearing in {{Dragon Quest IX}}. It is a giant, floating stone head wearing the garish makeup of a clown.

Moai minstrels are monolithic heads made of purple [[Material family|stone]] with their faces made up mostly in white with other gaudy colours, a round squeaky nose, exaggerated lips, and a fluffy pink afro like that of a stereotypical clown. When they first appeared, the minstrels were able to boost the attack power of their fellow monsters with a '''Gritty Ditty''' and could send parties of adventurers into hysterics by making silly faces before sacrificing themselves with '''Kamikazee''' in an attempt to finish them off. In later appearances, they lost their ability to cast the deadly spell, instead opting to crush their enemies alive either with their immense weight or by headbutting them, as well as gaining the ability to breathe out harmful bursts of blinding light from their mouths.
