The Egg soldier (originally Eggeron or Bad Egg) is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest VII, it is an egg monster with a white shell.
The Bad egg is a recurring MFamilies in the DQSeries that was introduced in VII.

Characteristics
Characteristics
The egg soldier holds the appearance of a cracked, white egg. An eye and a small smile can be seen through the pitch blackness inside the egg.
The bad egg is an unknown monstrous egg with an evil eye and a small, sneaky red-lipped smile peering through the crack in the white shell.
It rolls into battle and is ready to hatch into all sorts of weird and wonderful strange species. It's impossible to tell which kind of MFamilies it will actually be until it hatches, if it gets a chance to before the battle ends.

The Bad egg is one of six potential starting monsters in this game, along with the Bag o' laughs, Capsichum, Ghost, Komodo, and Platypunk. It is, along with the Capsichum, the only starting MFamilies that can't be scouted later. Bad eggs can still be seen outside of battle, dwelling in the hades condor nests in Cragravation but cannot be fought.

Etymology
The player may receive a bad egg as their starting monster. It is, along with the capsichum, one of the only starting monsters that can't be scouted later and must instead be synthesized. Bad eggs can still be seen outside of battle, dwelling in the hades condor nests in Cragravation, but cannot be fought. The bad egg is a Rank F monster.
*Eggcelsior is derived from Excelsior, Latin for "Ever Upward".
*Speggtre comes from the word Specter, another term for a ghost.
*Foliegg references foliage, the scientific term for a plant's leaves.
*A hard-boiled egg is an egg that has been cooked in high temperature water with an unbroken shell.
*A deviled egg is a sliced hard-boiled egg, with the yolk being mixed with other ingredients.
*Egg-en-ciel takes its name from the French word arc-en-ciel, referring to rainbows.
