The Banishing blade is a recurring greatsword in the Dragon Quest series. It is an ōdachi with a European-style hilt that is effective at cutting down members of the demon family.
Localization history[edit | edit source]
The Japanese name for the weapon, 退魔の太刀, has been adapted into English twice: first as the Demonsbane in the 3DS port of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King and in the eleventh game as the banishing blade.
