The Batterfly is a monster in the series.
==Characteristics== | |||
Batterflies are monstrous butterflies with a cartoonish, dog-like face with sharp fangs in the center of its body. Their bodies are magenta-coloured with blue mouths, with either blue or purple wings that have spots on them. Its original design had green wings with purple spots. Starting with the Super Famicom version, their wings were changed to purple with green spots on them. In games like IX and X, their wings are light blue instead with darker blue spots surrounded with magenta circles. The batterfly is known for their troublesome ability to envelop attackers in illusions.

*The batterfly has similarities to the Hitōban (飛頭蛮), a Chinese monster that separates its head from the rest of its body and floats about with its giant ears as wings and the Chonchón, a mythical creature from South America that takes the form of a human head with an unusually large pair of ears that function as wings.
