'''Boulder Toss''' is a recurring ability in the {{DQSeries}}. It throws a huge rock large enough to squash all enemies at once.

Appearing in the remakes, Boulder Toss is one of {{Chow Mein}}'s special attacks, dealing 90~130 damage. Because no equipment in ''IV'' resists the Strike element this attack '''will hurt'''.

Boulder Toss is learned by advancing to rank 7 of the [[Gladiator]] {{Vocation}} and will deal 90~130 Strike damage to all enemies.

 

It is used by the boss [[Belleau]].

Learned in the same manner as the previous installment and shares the damage parameters. In the {{3DS}} Version, Boulder Toss is learned at the first rank of the [[Champion]] vocation and is slightly nerfed, flattening foes for 80~120.

 

It is used by the enemies [[mad moai]], [[mega moai]], [[utter nutter]]s, and the [[Earth Spirit]].

Boulder Toss is a fisticuffs technique that both the {{Hero 8}} and [[Yangus]] can learn. It requires 82 skill points by the Hero, and 100 skill points by Yangus. The skill is weaker than normal in this game, dealing only 72~104 damage, but can be boosted with [[Tension]].

*In the 3DS version, Boulder Toss is also used by [[Juggerwroth]] in battle. His version of the skill is much stronger and does 95~130 damage to the whole party.

This ability is learned with 77 skill points invested into the [[List of fisticuffs skills in Dragon Quest IX|Fisticuffs skill]]. Boulder Toss uses the new Earth-element and has been much improved in this game, dealing damage dependent on the user's strength and deftness for a maximum range of 290~320.  

Called RockThrow in this game, it requires the monster to be at least level 16, with at least 124 HP, and 102 strength. It is learned naturally by [[Baramos]], [[Metal dragon|metaldrak]], [[Rubble slime|rockslime]] and [[Tortoceratops|spikerous]].

The requirements to learn RockThrow are unchanged. It is naturally learned by the [[Damned ram|darkhorn]], [[Drakulard|gigadraco]], [[golem]], [[HornBeet|hornbeet]], [[King squid|kingsquid]], [[ogre]] and [[Wormbat|snakebat]]. It is no longer learned by the [[Metal dragon|metaldrak]] or [[Rubble slime |rockslime]].

Boulder Toss can be learned with 43 in the [[Cluboon (skill)|Cluboon II]] skill. It costs 32 MP and has a base range of 110~134, capping at a maximum range of 287~349.
