DQ4
The mask is found in the Cascade Cave in all versions of the game, and in the remakes another can be found in the Fungeon 4. The death mask has a Defence bonus of +200 and can be equipped by anyone except for the Psaro 9....but it is Cursed.  The side effect results in confusion, similar to the mask of implacability from the third game. It can be sold for 6 Gold.

Effect
The final party member being unable to equip the mask is due to his innate immunity to being cursed, and as such is the development team deliberately preventing him from growing absurdly durable with little effort.
