Double Down is a recurring boomerang ability in the Dragon Quest series. It is an enhanced version of Twomerang that launches a glowing boomerang from each hand at all enemies twice. It has a chance to make enemies more susceptible to harmful status effects.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest X[edit | edit source]

Double Down can be learned by Minstrels, Gadabouts, Rangers, Sages, Item Masters, and Pirates by allocating 140 skill points into the Boomerang skill and costs 8 MP to use. It deals 240% damage to all enemies within range twice and and reduces resistance to negative status effects.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

GameDescription
An attack on all enemies with a pair of boomerangs that can make them more susceptible to status ailments.[1]

Erik can learn Double Down through the Boomerangs panel in his character builder for 20 skill points after it has been expanded in the second act. It costs 24 MP to use and inflicts 180% damage to all enemies twice for a total of 360% damage, as well as having a 50% chance of making enemies more vulnerable to debuffs and status ailments by one stage.

It has the potential to be one of the highest sources of damage in the game when used in conjunction with some of Erik's other skills such as Divide and if he is dual wielding boomerangs.
