Chapter 1 exists mainly to setup the story of the game by introducing several key characters in the game. This includes the [[Hero ~~(Dragon Quest Sword)]]~~, [[Claymore]], and [[Swordmaster Dao]]. The plot of this chapter involves the ~~hero~~ traveling to Caliburn Cave in order to undergo what is known as ''The Warrior's Walk''. This entails visiting Caliburn Cave in order to prove ones strength against [[Sir Dirk Worthington]]. The ~~hero~~ must do this in order to be recognized as a protector of Avalonia.
