The Fighting batboon is a boss and monster that appears exclusively in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. The boss version is encountered in the town of Gröndal, while the regular enemy appears in the Beacon near Buccanham in the past.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Fighting batboons are muscular anthropomorphic beastmen that are a cross between primate and chiroptera. They have purple pelts of fur, angry red faces, dark orange wings, and a tall pair of ears. Around their necks, the batboons wear a necklace embellished with the cracked skulls of their enemies. In battle, the beasts strengthen their fists of fury by casting Oomph on themselves.

Story[edit | edit source]

The fighting batboon journeyed to the town of Gröndal to destroy Ygg before it grows to become Yggdrasil. To this end, it disguised itself as the Stranger and poisons the town's water supply with a powerful hallucinogenic and made the townspeople believe that they were the Demon Lord. The party arrives into town, unaware of the fighting batboon's plan. However, they discover what the villain is doing in the town and try to stop him by journeying through the Roots of Ygg. By using the Holy Dew from Ygg, they cured the townspeople. This enrages the fighting batboon who proceeds to attack them. The party is able to defeat him and save the town.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

The fighting batboon can use Multifists in conjunction with Oomph. It is a devastating combo for those who aren't sufficiently leveled. But this can be helped by using Buff, especially on Maribel. Cast Sap on the fighting batboon and attack. Give the Salvation stone to Maribel to heal those who fall under ~40HP and things should go well.
