The firebird is a large [[Bird family|bird]] with plumage in various shades of red, orange, and yellow. Most of its body is orange with a long red tail, a red head and neck, and golden feathers on its head and neck, as well as gold talons. In battle, it breathes out fiery breath of varying intensity or cast fire magic to cook foes alive. Although the firebird made its debut in ''Dragon Quest V'', it would not make a return to the main series until ''Dragon Quest X'' two decades later. Their diet consists of lava and flames. It has made regular appearances in the {{Monsters S}} of games, as well as various other spinoffs along with its [[Snowbird|icy counterpart]]. In some games, it has been a member of the [[Beast family]] while in other as a member of the [[Nature family]].
