Characteristics
Characteristics
Great Dragons are adequately described by their name: they are large dragons with wings, a long tail, horns, and golden scales that add up to make a very grand-looking creature.
Great dragons are large, golden-scaled dragons with a large pair of wings on their back, a long tail, and horns. They are often able to breathe out devastating fire or ice breath, use their claws, fangs, and tails in powerful attacks, while their scales grant them a high degree of protection against the elements. Due to some similarity in colouration and head shape, it is theorised that they are the adult stage of the Small fry, despite the small fries themselves possibly being in their adult stage already. Their monster description in X states that they are popular even amongst dragonkind, with small fries aspiring to become a great dragon in the future.

The power of the Great Dragon is as impressive as its looks. They are normally in command of some of the most potent breath attacks there are, have excellent strength, and tend to resist many non-physical attacks. Due to this, Great Dragons aren't normally seen until the player nears the end of the games they appear in.

Great Dragons appear for the first time, though they are not encountered until the player reaches Nadiria, essentially right before the end of the game. They can be incredibly threatening monsters, able to breath powerful fire breath, deliver might physical blows, and even call in other Great Dragons. Lucky players might occasionally recruit a Great Dragon, bringing the monster's power over to their side.

The Great dragon is a monster in the series.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Great dragons are large, golden-scaled dragons with a large pair of wings on their back, a long tail, and horns. They are often able to breathe out devastating fire or ice breath, use their claws, fangs, and tails in powerful attacks, while their scales grant them a high degree of protection against the elements. Due to some similarity in colouration and head shape, it is theorised that they are the adult stage of the Small fry, despite the small fries themselves possibly being in their adult stage already. Their monster description in X states that they are popular even amongst dragonkind, with small fries aspiring to become a great dragon in the future.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[edit | edit source]

The Great dragon is the last monsters in the Dragon family that can be synthesised without using a specific combination. They are necessary for synthesising other monsters such as the Mechan-o'-wyrm and Black dragon. One appears as a boss in the temple on Celeste Isle.
