Gritty Ditty is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series. This song raises the attributes of all party members by one level, depending on the game.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]

In the PS1 version, WarSong is a hybrid ability learned by reaching rank 5 as a Warrior or Bard immediately after completing the other. When used, it increases the defence of all party members by one level for 0 MP, making it similar to Kabuff. In the 3DS version, as hybrid abilities no longer exist, Gritty Ditty is learned by Gladiators at rank 3, Luminaries at rank 5, and Druids at rank 1 and can only be used as those vocations.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]

The seriously gritty ditty can be sung by any character that has the 'Minstrel's Manual' (quest #102) item in their inventory. From this entry onwards, the song actually increases the attack of all party members, rather than defence. It is also used by Genie sanguinis and Moai minstrels in battle.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

Gritty Dity is not used by players in this entry, only being used by Queen sanguinis, Celtic fauns, Caterwailin' kelps, and the Sea breeze diva, as well as Genie Sanguinis once again.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

Gritty Ditty is used by Mothertoads in battle and is not used by any of the heroes in this game, similar to X. An item named the War Drum applies the same effects. increasing the attack of the entire party by one level. It is dropped by Nimclops after defeating him in the Hall of Remembrance-Level 2. This is a reference to the game the war drum originated from.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below & Dragon Quest Heroes II[edit | edit source]

Although unusable by any of the main heroes, genie sanguinis can use Gritty Ditty in battle to augment their allies' attack much like Oomph. If a genie sanguini is summoned with a monster medal, it will perform Gritty Ditty on the party.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit | edit source]

Gritty Ditty can be learned by Seraphi at level 31 and costs 34 MP to use. It has a range of 1-2 squares away from her or can be used on herself and raises the ATK of all allies in a 3x3 square for three turns. Upgrading the ability reduces the amount of MP it costs to use.
