The Headsman's axe (originally localized as the Demon Axe) is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series. It is a ferocious-looking axe that provides melee-oriented characters with considerable boon in the late-game part of their journey. It is the first of the low-accuracy-but-powerful category of weapons, but remains unique among its brethren in that it still has a relatively high hit-rate, unlike that of Hela's hammer.

The Headsman's axe is an axe in the series.

Characteristics
A ferocious double-headed axe featuring the design of a green dragon on the axe's eye, a cloth wrapped around the haft as a rudimentary grip, and spikes near the haft. It gives the wielder a higher chance of landing a critical hit when attacking, but at the cost of reducing their accuracy at the same time. Despite this, it is not a cursed weapon and it can be unequipped normally.

Trivia
*Headsman is an antiquated term for a judicial executioner. Specifically, it refers to one who executes convicted criminals via decapitation by a large axe. These axes would be inscribed with the words "Cast in the name of God, ye not guilty", to show that the executioner was not guilty of murder in the eyes of God.
