The High djinks is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VI.

Its name is a play on the term high jinks and the mythological djinni.

Description[edit | edit source]

The High djinks are genies with the appearance of rotund mustachioed men with purple skin and pointy ears riding on grey clouds. They wear blue vests, baggy white trousers with an orange sash tied around their waist, pointy blue slippers, and gold bracelets. On their heads, the genies wear a white turban with a red jewel in the front and an orange plume. They think far too highly of their fantastical battle abilities, hovering above adventurers and launching attacks while cackling or puffing up their clouds before striking. Boasting a huge health pool and the ability to cast Kaswoosh, these grinning goons post a surprisingly frightful threat. However, in some games, the genies do not possess any spellcasting ability whatsoever, instead using their ability to manipulate the wind by sending out howling gales to slice enemies apart and sending breath attacks back at their users.
