The '''Hocus chimaeras''' is a recurring monster in the {{DQSeries}}, introduced in the original ''[[Dragon Quest]]''. They look just like their normal kin, but are composed of warmer colors such as browns and oranges. True to their name, they have learned a wingfull of spells.

They bolster their fire-belching ability with knowledge of different spells depending on the game, including healing allies and debilitating their foes.
Hocus chimaeras are monsters with the heads and wings of [[Bird family|vultures]], while having the lower bodies of serpents. In some games, they have slightly reddish bodies with golden feathers on their wings and around their necks. In most appearances, they have brown plumage with lighter brown on their undersides and heads. They are higher level evolutions of [[Chimaera|chimaeras]] that have gained some spellcasting ability. The hocus chimaeras also occasionally augment this by breathing fire, as well.
