Holy Protection is a spell in the Dragon Quest series.

It repels weaker enemies, checking the player's current level to calculate which enemies are kept at bay.

Regardless of which game is being played, the spell will last for exactly 128 steps.

The spell is learned at level 15, and costs 2 MP to cast.

Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line[edit | edit source]

Learned by the Princess of Moonbrooke at level 8, and still costs 2 MP.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit | edit source]

Learned by the Hero at level 19, and requires 4 MP to cast.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]

Holy Protection is learned by the Hero at level 20 if his or her wisdom exceeds 65 points.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]

Holy Protection is available to the Hero at level 12 and is already known by the 9th Chosen One upon joining.

Repel is learned by advancing to rank 5 of the Bard class. In the 3DS version, Holy Protection is learned at rank 7 of the Thief vocation.

The Luminary will learn the spell for 8 points in his Luminary skill tree. It costs 2 MP to cast, and will ward off monsters for 30 seconds. The spell's calculation is slightly tweaked, raising the Luminary's level by 10 when frightening foes.
