The pickayune is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IV. It is a mischievous, goblin-like monster with wings on its back.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Pickayunes are Humanoid monsters with the appearance of orange-skinned children with a pair of white angelic wings on their backs. They have a huge pair of pointed ears, eyes with minuscule irises, a red shell-like growth on their heads, and a singular horn on the middle of their heads. The monsters wear purple togas and white sandals on their feet. They are more nuisances than true threats, failing to even cast a simple Dazzle spell due to their insufficient MP pools. When the pickayunes returned many years later in X, they gained the ability to breathe fire.
