The '''Purrestidigitator''' is a recurring monster in the series, first introduced in {{Dragon Quest VII}}. It is an anthropomorphic green cat wearing a blue wizard's robe. Its name is a play on a cat's purr and "prestidigitator", a magician skilled in sleight-of-hand.

Purrestidigitators are [[Beast family|feline]] wizards with green coats of fur, wearing blue robes that reach down to their feet along with a long necklace with a bronze cat's bell around their necks, as well as carrying gnarled wooden staffs which aid in spellcasting. Their repertoire of spell includes being able to envelop their opponents in illusions or sending them into chaos, along with setting them ablaze with fire magic. In later games, the felines have also gained the ability to cast darkness spells, as well.
