Roaring Tirade is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series and the Coup de Grâce of the Martial Artist vocation. It is a dynamic kiai that frightens enemies and raises the karateka's Tension by one level.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]

Roaring Tirade targets all enemies in battle and will stun even boss monsters and metal slimes for one turn. When used on monsters and bosses that can act multiple times per turn, it will only prevent one of their actions.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

Roaring Tirade is similar in function as in the previous game, but due to system changes the finer details have changed slightly. Specifically, Roaring Tirade uses the broader category of stun resistance instead of the more common "fear" type that would latter appear in XI, meaning it can safely work on the majority of boss monsters. Additionally, as X is a true 3D game taking place in real-time the concept of enemy groups has been abolished and the shout now has a range of 7 meters and the incapacitation now lasts for 15 seconds.

  • In the Offline version of the game, Roaring Tirade can only be used by the Hero as a Martial Artist. It costs 75 Tension to use and has a high chance of stunning all enemies for a single turn. It is received as a reward for completing Quest #152: Life or Death.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

Roaring Tirade is now a Pep power that can be performed by the Hero & Jade. It requires both characters to be pepped up. As the Tension system does not exist in Erdrea, the skill only stuns all enemies.

GameDescription
Unleashes a shock wave that assails all enemies.[1]

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below[edit | edit source]

Roaring Tirade can be learned by Alena by spending 3 skill points and costs 10 MP to use. It has a similar animation to the skill in X, with Alena accumulating energy in both hands, then sending it forth at a group of enemies in front of her to temporarily stun them.

GameDescription
Blasts beasts backwards with unstoppable force.[2]

Dragon Quest Rivals[edit | edit source]

Roaring Tirade was introduced in the second card pack, "Roar of Unleashed Power" as a super rare card exclusive for Martial Artist leaders. It cost 10 MP to use and would return all units to their respective owners' hands.
