The Satyr is a monster introduced in Dragon Quest VIII. They are creatures with the upper bodies of men and the lower bodies of goats.
Characteristics
Although they are called satyrs, these creatures have more in common with fauns of Greek mythology. They have the lower bodies of goats and their upper bodies have the appearance of chubby men, with goat horns on the sides of their heads. As satyrs grow older, their horns fall out and they use them as musical instruments, utilizing them to put unsuspecting adventurers to sleep with music. Satyrs are not particularly powerful monsters, they can be formidable foes to novice adventurers.
