The Spitegeist is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in the original Dragon Quest.
Characteristics
Spitegeists are evergreen ghosts that wear tan pointed witch's hats. They have mastered several spells, leading to infamy among players for being frustratingly difficult opponents when first encountered. In their original appearance, the spectres were a shade of teal, shifting to a forest green starting with the Super Famicom version of Dragon Quest. They have returned to their original coloration in more modern appearances.
