Tangleweb is a purchasable item from Dragon Quest III and Dragon Quest VII and a found item in Dragon Quest IX. The globs of gossamer have served as utilities in battle as well as alchemical ingredients.
In Japanese versions of the game, it's named after a spotted spider monster cut during development of Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line.[1]

Due to Deceleratle not being present, bundles of tangleweb now stun a single foe for one turn. Tangleweb is still a common item, and can be bought from several shops for 35 gold once again.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Tangleweb reduces all enemies' agility by 25% when used in battle, and can be bought at Batsureg, Upover, Wormwood Creek for 35 gold. The widow's pique, cyber spider, and cumaulus enemies drop the webs at rates of 1/8th and 1/32 respectively.
