The Wormbat (originally Snakebat / Snake Bat) is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest V, it is a winged reptile with a long, worm-like tongue.

Characteristics

Wormbats are flying reptiles, not far flung from the likes of pterosaurs, clad in green scales with orange-brown colored webbing for their wings. Their tongues, which appear to be as prehensile as tails or tentacles, are colored blue and wave about as the creatures stay airborne.

While their appearances throughout the series have been scarce, Wormbats can effectively be grouped together with some of the more dangerous enemies in the series if they are not dealt with quickly, given their ability to use Burning Breath to try and paralyze all of their opponents.
