The Night light is an item in the Dragon Quest series. It shifts day to night upon use out on the world map and doesn't work in towns or dungeons.

First game with the Lamp of darkness (called Dark lamp in the Game Boy Color Version). The lamp is found in the shop at Tedanki and can be obtained during the day. In the NES Version it can't be sold, while in the GBC Version, it will sell for 225 gold coins.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen

Found in Chapter 4 by Meena and Maya in the depths of Gupta Gupha, where it was created by their father Mahabala. It remains in their possession when they join up with the hero at the start of Chapter 5.
