The morning star, also known as the mace, is a recurring whip in the Dragon Quest franchise. It is a mid-level weapon that consists of a spiked metal ball attached to a handle by a long chain.

Dragon Quest III
The morning star has an attack bonus of +30. It can only be equipped by priests and sages. It can be purchased at Baharata, Theddon, and the Super Secret Faerie Village for 1,700 gold. It only appears in the remakes.
Dragon Quest IV
The morning star has an attack bonus of +33. The remakes of the game replace it with the Holy lance.
Dragon Quest V
The morning star has an attack bonus of +45.
Dragon Quest VI
Dragon Quest VII
